Larsen Resigns as Executive Director
Reston, VA – July 10, 2017 -- After fifteen years as Executive Director, Jim Larsen has accepted a position as Bureau Chief, Arlington County Commuter Services. His resignation is effective August 4, 2017.
During Jim’s tenure, DATA was able to secure and successfully execute numerous state and federal grants, enabling the Association to grow to seven full and part-time employees and to contribute significantly to improving regional mobility by helping remove single occupant vehicles (SOVs) from area roadways. DATA’s Anniversary Celebration and Awards Ceremony has become a premier networking event during which the DATA awards recognize outstanding transportation professionals and private sector partners who help DATA fulfill its mission. And with his extensive contacts in the industry and in local government, Jim has been able to involve speakers that make DATA’s Annual Transportation Roundtable the single source for transportation policies and infrastructure improvement in Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties.
Also notable has been the development of DATA’s Live More Commute Less® initiative and the publication of @livemore, DATA’s behavior changing consumer publication dedicated to demonstrating how commuters can spend the time and money they save by ridesharing, taking transit, teleworking and biking or walking to work. Jim is also the current President of the Chesapeake Chapter of the Association for Commuter Transportation.
DATA thanks Jim for his diligent and effective leadership and extends best wishes for his continued success in the field of transportation demand management.
